AMD is slated to launch the Radeon HD 4600 series on September 10th and now we managed to get our hands on some benchmarks compared to HD 3850 and 9500GT cards. RV730 has 320 SP (same as RV670), 32 texture (2x RV670), 8/32 color/Z(1/2 RV670 on color and same as RV670 on Z). HD 4670 (RV730XT) is clocked at 750MHz core and 2GHz GDDR3 memory while HD 4650 (RV730PRO) is clocked at 650Mhz core and 1GHz GDDR2 memory. Under 3DMark Vantage, HD 4670 scored P35xx while HD 4650 scored P21xx. In comparison, HD 3850 DDR2 scored P32xx and 9500GT DDR3 scored P19xx.
AMD has informed their partners that Radeon HD 3870 X2 (R680) launch has been pushed forward to 23rd January instead of 28th. Therefore, it will now be launched together with Radeon HD 3650 (RV635), HD 3450 (RV620) and 780G (RS780). The price point for Radeon is US$ 449 and stocks will hit the retail market by next week.
Our sources told us Radeon HD 3870 X2 launch is being pushed back to the original date again, which is, 28th January and no reason given by AMD for the change. This change took the AIB partners by surprise too as they have gotten themselves ready for the launch tomorrow. The selling prices set by retailers so far we have seen are around US$ 510 to US$ 550 range but it is slightly on the high side. The price point that AMD set for is between US$ 449 to $ 499 SRP.
